GPX and Strava as a 3D Model: Your Route as a Relief
Handmade in the Bavarian Alps.
From your GPX file, Strava activity or Komoot tour we make a 3D relief with your route as a raised line in the terrain. You upload the file in the live 3D configurator or add the link to Strava, Komoot or Garmin, search for the place by name and move the area. The relief is 3D printed from exact LiDAR elevation data and mounted on a solid wood base, oak or stone pine. You receive the finished model, not a print file.
Can I turn my Strava activity into a 3D model?
Yes. On the Relief Track you enter the link to your Strava activity in the configurator, and a link to Komoot or Garmin works the same way. Alternatively, you upload the recording as a GPX file. The result is a relief of the terrain with your route running across it as a modeled 3D line: not printed on but raised, in red or white as the contrast color. That is how a run, a bike loop or a hike becomes a 3D model.
How does my GPX file or Komoot tour become a relief?
In the live 3D configurator you upload the route or paste the link, search for the place by name and move the area until it fits. The preview shows the relief from all sides before you order. It is then made individually in our workshop in the Bavarian Alps: 3D printed from exact LiDAR elevation data and mounted on the solid wood base, oak or stone pine. There are five sizes, S at 10 × 10 cm, M at 15 × 15 cm, L at 20 × 20 cm, XL at 25 × 25 cm and XXL at 28 × 28 cm, each as Base (desk version) or Wall (wall relief).
For runners, cyclists, hikers and ski tourers
All that matters is that the route exists as a GPX file or as a link to Strava, Komoot or Garmin: the mountain run, the road bike loop over a pass, the hut-to-hut hike or the ski tour. To show winter, take a look at the Relief Natural: multi-colored, with true-to-nature coloring of forest, meadow, rock, water and snow, in summer or winter mode, and you set the snow line yourself. Ski tours and ski areas are also ordered from us in winter mode.
What is the difference between Relief Track and TrailMap?
On the Relief Track the route is part of the model: a raised, modeled line that follows the terrain. On the TrailMap, contour lines and typically place names or checkpoints are engraved in solid oak, and the route lies on top as a tactile 3D line. The TrailMap is the classic finisher gift and is also awarded as an event trophy. If you want to show the terrain in three dimensions, choose the Track. If you want to show a route with its stations, choose the TrailMap.
Can two tours go on one relief?
Yes, up to two tracks can be combined on one relief. That works, for example, for ascent and descent on different trails, for two stages of a multi-day tour or for the routes of two people to the same destination. Both routes need to lie within the chosen area.
Can I send the track after ordering?
Yes. You can order the relief and send the GPX file or the link by email afterwards. That helps if the recording is still on your watch, or if you are ordering a gift and first need to get the file from the recipient. If the recipient should choose tour and area entirely on their own, the gift card is the right way: download and print, valid for two years.
What can be engraved on the base?
The laser engraving in the wooden base holds up to three lines, on Base and Wall alike. About two out of three orders carry an engraving, and customers include the date, kilometers, elevation gain and their finish time. One possible layout: the name of the tour or race in the first line, kilometers and elevation gain in the second, date and time in the third. Standard emojis are possible, and everything is engraved exactly as entered.
Do I get a file to print myself?
No. There is no print file for your own 3D printer. You receive the finished relief: made individually, mounted on the base and shipped. We ship to over 35 countries, duties included for deliveries abroad.
