Mountaineers often start on the Zugspitze, after a night at the Münchner Haus or with the first cable car. The first third of the ridge up to the Innere Höllentalspitze is the most demanding part. From the Vollkarspitze the path leads to the Grießkarscharte, and from there it is a good 150 meters of elevation to the Alpspitze summit. It is a high-alpine tour and not a via ferrata, with sections of grade I and II to III− (UIAA). The name goes back to the founding members of the Munich section of the German Alpine Club, who in 1894, for the section's 25th anniversary, donated money for a “Jubiläumsweg”. Ferdinand Henning was the first to walk it along its full length to the Alpspitze in 1897.

Peaks on the Jubiläumsgrat

Zugspitze (2962 m), the highest peak of the Wetterstein range. The Vollkarspitze (2618 m), a key section since two rockfalls in 2001 (via ferrata grade D). The goal is the Alpspitze (2628 m), whose pyramid-shaped summit is considered a landmark of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Jubiläumsgrat relief: data

Track: the route as a colored, raised line on the relief

Data basis: high-precision LiDAR elevation data for the Wetterstein Mountains, accurate to the millimeter

Relief: 3D print in PLA, a bio-based polymer made mostly from renewable raw materials

Base: solid wood, oiled, choice of oak or Swiss stone pine

Sizes: 10x10, 15x15, 20x20, 25x25 and 28x28 cm

Version: Base to stand on a shelf or table, or Wall for hanging; price depends on size, version and wood

Manufacturing: handmade in Bavaria, alpen-werk logo engraved in the base, optional custom engraving

Jubiläumsgrat as a gift

Mountaineers who have climbed the Jubiläumsgrat from the Zugspitze over the Höllentalspitzen to the Alpspitze get a keepsake of the day on the ridge with this mountain model.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0639/5946/6196/files/RT_01023_Jubilaeumsgrat_a-r_200_Base_Camera.010_1-1.jpg?v=1769204327
