It lies entirely in North Tyrol, near the border with South Tyrol, and owes its name to its shape, which can be seen even from the entrance of the Stubai Valley. The first ascent was made in 1863 by Josef Anton Specht with the guide Alois Tanzer. Across the Pfaffensattel stands the Wilder Pfaff (3456 m) directly on the border between Tyrol and South Tyrol, first climbed in 1870 by Richard Gutberlet with the guides Andrä Purtscheller and Alois Tanzer. The Pfaffennieder separates it from the Wilder Freiger (3418 m) on the main Alpine ridge; on the summit of the Freiger there is a meteorological station. Because glacier retreat and melting permafrost make the main summit of the Zuckerhütl less stable, local mountain guides recommend the west summit in summer.

Peaks around the Zuckerhütl

The section also includes the Pfaffenschneide (3498 m), whose summit is also called the Zuckerhütl west summit, the Sonklarspitze (3444 m) and the Apere Freiger (3261 m). Above the Übeltalferner, the largest glacier of the Stubai Alps, lie the Müllerhütte (3145 m) and the Becherhaus (3195 m), the highest hut in South Tyrol. The Sulzenauferner reaches far up the north face of the Zuckerhütl.

Relief Zuckerhütl: Data

Data basis: LiDAR elevation data for the Stubai Alps

Relief: 3D print in PLA, a bio-based polymer made mostly from renewable raw materials

Base: solid wood, oiled, choice of oak or Swiss stone pine

Sizes: 10x10, 15x15, 20x20, 25x25 and 28x28 cm

Version: Base to stand on a shelf or table, or Wall for hanging; price depends on size, version and wood

Manufacturing: handmade in Bavaria, alpen-werk logo engraved in the base, optional custom engraving

Zuckerhütl as a gift

A night in the Becherhaus or the Müllerhütte, plus Zuckerhütl, Wilder Pfaff and Wilder Freiger: this 3D relief map is a reminder of it.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0639/5946/6196/files/hero1_WALL_Zirbe_ce2a2336-8917-41a0-9a12-d1040777212c.jpg?v=1786781460
https://www.alpen-werk.de/en-fr/products/mountain-model-classic-zuckerhuetl-wilder-freiger-wilder-pfaff
