The hut opened in 1884 and is supplied by the gondolas of the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn, whose line runs directly above it. Through the Schneekar the route goes to an easy via ferrata that begins at the Stopselzieher, a natural erosion cave that you climb through. After that the trail passes the abandoned summit station of the first Tiroler Zugspitzbahn and continues over the ridge to the summit.

Peaks around the Zugspitze

The Zugspitze (2962 m) is the highest peak of the Wetterstein Mountains and the highest mountain in Germany; the border between Germany and Austria runs over its west summit. The first ascent from the Austrian side was made from Ehrwald in August 1837, when the surveyors Joseph Feuerstein and Joseph Sonnweber reached the west summit. The section also includes the Zugspitzeck (2815 m), a ridge elevation on the border, and the Schneefernerkopf (2875 m), which seen from Ehrwald appears as the dominant mountain of the Wetterstein.

Zugspitze Stopselzieher Relief: Data

Track: the route as a colored, raised line on the relief

Data basis: LiDAR elevation data for the Wetterstein Mountains

Relief: 3D print in PLA, a bio-based polymer made mostly from renewable raw materials

Base: solid wood, oiled, choice of oak or Swiss stone pine

Sizes: 10x10, 15x15, 20x20, 25x25 and 28x28 cm

Version: Base to stand on a shelf or table, or Wall for hanging; price depends on size, version and wood

Manufacturing: handmade in Bavaria, alpen-werk logo engraved in the base, optional custom engraving

Zugspitze via the Stopselzieher as a gift

This mountain model is meant for mountaineers after the ascent from Ehrwald through the Austrian Schneekar and the Stopselzieher to the Zugspitze, also as a keepsake of the Wiener-Neustädter-Hütte.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0639/5946/6196/files/RT-01050_v6_Camera010_BASE_Eiche_Hellgrau_9733635b-2779-409a-bb3c-0253bc58bc94.jpg?v=1787077945
