From the hut the normal route leads over moraines onto the crevasse-poor Gran Paradiso glacier and on to the Donkey's Back, where the route from the Rifugio Chabod over the Laveciau glacier joins. It is the route of the first ascensionists of September 4, 1860. Most climbers end on the neighboring rocky summit with the Madonna statue; the last exposed meters up there are UIAA II.

Peaks around the Gran Paradiso

The Gran Paradiso (4061 m) is the highest mountain whose base stands entirely on Italian soil; its massif consists mainly of gneiss. It lies in Gran Paradiso National Park, which grew out of a royal hunting reserve created in 1856 to protect the Alpine ibex. After a short distance the summit ridge reaches the Roc (4026 m), the second-highest elevation of the massif. Also within the model are Becca di Moncorvé (3875 m) at the edge of the Gran Paradiso glacier, Ciarforon (3642 m), Tresenta (3609 m) and Herbétet (3778 m).

Relief Gran Paradiso Normal Route: Data

Track: the route as a colored, raised line on the relief

Data basis: LiDAR elevation data for the Graian Alps

Relief: 3D print in PLA, a bio-based polymer made mostly from renewable raw materials

Base: solid wood, oiled, choice of oak or Swiss stone pine

Sizes: 10x10, 15x15, 20x20, 25x25 and 28x28 cm

Version: Base to stand on a shelf or table, or Wall for hanging; price depends on size, version and wood

Manufacturing: handmade in Bavaria, alpen-werk logo engraved in the base, optional custom engraving

Gran Paradiso Normal Route as a gift

The relief makes a fitting gift for high-alpine climbers after the ascent from the Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele II over the Gran Paradiso glacier.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0639/5946/6196/files/RT-01045_v6_Camera010_BASE_Eiche_Hellgrau_5e16fa82-1ae3-449b-8591-fc50c2fd738d.jpg?v=1787048200
